ABOUT

Artist Statement

My work explores the experiences, memories, and contradictions that have shaped me as a Cuban American woman. I work intuitively and enjoy experimenting with acrylic paint, textiles, lace, sewing, embroidery, and floral imagery, while using research to deepen my ideas. Through materials connected to beauty and femininity, I explore softness, strength, cultural memory, societal expectations, and transformation. Ultimately, my practice asks how girlhood, heritage, and femininity come together to make us who we are.

Artist bio

Bella Bosch is a Cuban-American artist based in Miami, Fl and a painting student at the Savannah College of Art and Design, where she expects to graduate in 2027. Working across painting and mixed media, she combines expressive figures, floral imagery, pattern, and textile details to explore femininity, girlhood, and identity. Her work draws on the colors, textures, and visual language of clothing and adornment, creating portraits that feel playful, personal, and editorial.

Recurring flower headed figures are central to her practice. By pairing human forms with flowers, lace, and carefully layered patterns, she reimagines familiar images of femininity and makes space for imagination, self expression, and complexity. Her process brings together painting with fiber techniques, including sewing and embroidery, allowing texture and material to play an active role in how each figure is seen.

Her work includes Dreaming of Mermaids, which has been featured through SCAD Art Sales. Through her studies at SCAD, she continues to develop a visual language that connects her interests in painting, textiles, and the many ways identity can be expressed.
